Nisyros Island Greece, view of volcanic rocks on the beach at Mandraki town. Nisyros is a 41 km2 large island in the Greek Dodecanese group and is situated north of the island of Rhodes. The island is actually a huge volcano and is part of a vulcanic chain in the South Aegean. Because the island is volcanic you will therefore mainly find black sand on the beaches

From Basel, Switzerland. In my artwork (watercolor and mixed media) I do focus on the extraordinary light and atmosphere that we find in nature, landscapes and alpine scenes. To capture this mood in my pictures is my challenge and passion. My Watercolor Paintings are done primarily in negative painting technique that means carving out shapes from the underpainting by painting around objects instead of painting them directly. I love to paint in a loose, expressionist, impressionist or semi-abstract way. I never try to copy the perfection of nature! I rather chose a loose approach with creative colors, unusual composition and with passionate brushstrokes.
