Panagia Gremiotissa is on the cycladic island of Ios. The church is located on the top of a hill overlooking the capital of Ios and the Aegean sea. The twilight view is just spectacular. Like all greek churches the Panagia Gremiotissa has blue domes, white walls and a tall bell tower but is unique due to the two tall palm trees standing in front of the church.
From Basel, Switzerland. In my artwork (watercolor and mixed media) I do focus on the extraordinary light and atmosphere that we find in nature, landscapes and alpine scenes. To capture this mood in my pictures is my challenge and passion. My Watercolor Paintings are done primarily in negative painting technique that means carving out shapes from the underpainting by painting around objects instead of painting them directly. I love to paint in a loose, expressionist, impressionist or semi-abstract way. I never try to copy the perfection of nature! I rather chose a loose approach with creative colors, unusual composition and with passionate brushstrokes.
