Artist's Description
The pictorial French village of Roussillon is located in the very heart of the biggest ochre deposits in the world, and is distinguished by a wide palette of flamboyant colours. The Town Hall square, the lively centre of the village, is lined with lovely 18th-century homes. Wandering the narrow streets, stairs and squares in Roussillon opens your eyes to the beautiful natural ochre to orange pigments used throughout the village, and the millennium-old knowledge of how to use this generous natural gift.
About Sabina Von Arx
From Basel, Switzerland. In my artwork (watercolor and mixed media) I do focus on the extraordinary light and atmosphere that we find in nature, landscapes and alpine scenes. To capture this mood in my pictures is my challenge and passion. My Watercolor Paintings are done primarily in negative painting technique that means carving out shapes from the underpainting by painting around objects instead of painting them directly. I love to paint in a loose, expressionist, impressionist or semi-abstract way. I never try to copy the perfection of nature! I rather chose a loose approach with creative colors, unusual composition and with passionate brushstrokes.

Chère Laurel, merci beaucoup pour vôtre hommage et pour le vote. The village of Roussillon is a real juwel concerning the colors of ochre, red and orange. Unfortunately travelling is not an option during the pandemic so as artists we have to travel in our minds and memories.
