In spring we welcome a whole medley of purple, white and pink flowers like Irises, Poppy Flowers, Anemones, Tulips and fresh green shrubs and grass. The potpourri of flowers is done in negative painting technique with a first wash of different colors, saving the white, and then built up by painting around the shapes of the various flowers.
About Sabina Von Arx
From Basel, Switzerland. In my artwork (watercolor and mixed media) I do focus on the extraordinary light and atmosphere that we find in nature, landscapes and alpine scenes. To capture this mood in my pictures is my challenge and passion. My Watercolor Paintings are done primarily in negative painting technique that means carving out shapes from the underpainting by painting around objects instead of painting them directly. I love to paint in a loose, expressionist, impressionist or semi-abstract way. I never try to copy the perfection of nature! I rather chose a loose approach with creative colors, unusual composition and with passionate brushstrokes.
